Cookie policy

Ed2cate uses cookies and similar technologies on its webshop. In this Cookie Policy, we explain what cookies are, which cookies we use, what they are used for, and how you can manage your cookie preferences.

This Cookie Policy forms part of our general Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that can be stored on your computer, smartphone, or other device when you visit a website.

Cookies can be used, for example, to:

  • ensure the webshop functions properly;

  • save products in your shopping cart;

  • remember your preferences;

  • ensure the security of the website;

  • analyze the use of the website;

  • support marketing and advertising.

In addition to cookies, websites may use similar technologies, such as pixels and tags. For convenience, we refer to these technologies as "cookies" in this Cookie Policy.

2. Which cookies does Ed2cate use?

On our webshop, we use several categories of cookies.

2.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are necessary for the proper functioning of the webshop.

They can be used, for example, for:

  • the functioning of the webshop;

  • saving the contents of your shopping cart;

  • the functioning of the checkout;

  • processing orders;

  • security and fraud prevention;

  • remembering your cookie preferences.

Prior consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies.

2.2 Analytical cookies – Google Analytics

Ed2cate uses Google Analytics to gain insights into the use of our webshop.

Google Analytics can help us understand, for example:

  • how many visitors our webshop has;

  • which pages are visited;

  • how visitors navigate the webshop;

  • which parts of the webshop are popular;

  • how our webshop can be improved technically and in terms of content.

Ed2cate only uses Google Analytics after you have given the required consent.

If you do not consent to analytical cookies, Google Analytics will not be activated to the extent that this is managed technically through our cookie settings.

Google may process personal data when providing Google Analytics. Google's processing is also subject to Google's privacy policy and terms.

3. Facebook and Meta

Ed2cate uses Facebook for its online presence and communication.

A regular link to or reference to our Facebook page does not in itself mean that Facebook places cookies on your device.

If Ed2cate uses a Meta Pixel, Meta Conversion API, or other Meta tracking technology on the webshop in the future, these technologies will be considered non-essential marketing and/or tracking technologies and will only be activated when the required consent has been obtained.

If such technologies are added, this Cookie Policy will be updated if necessary.

4. Shopify

Our webshop is technically provided via Shopify.

Shopify uses various cookies and similar technologies for, among other things, the functioning of the webshop, shopping cart, checkout, security, and other technical functions.

Which Shopify cookies are actually used may depend on the features and settings of our webshop.

For more information, you can consult Shopify's Cookie Policy:

Shopify Cookie Policy

5. Consent to cookies

During your first visit to our webshop, you will be given the opportunity to manage your cookie preferences.

Strictly necessary cookies may be used without prior consent when they are necessary for the functioning of the webshop.

For analytical cookies, such as Google Analytics, and other non-essential cookies, we ask for prior consent when this is legally required.

For example, you can choose to:

  • Accept all cookies

  • Reject non-essential cookies

  • Customize cookie preferences

Simply visiting or continuing to use our webshop is not considered consent to non-essential cookies.

6. Changing or withdrawing your consent

You can change your cookie preferences at any time or withdraw your previously given consent.

We provide an option on our website that allows you to reopen the cookie settings.

When you withdraw your consent, non-essential cookies will no longer be placed to the extent that this is managed technically through our cookie settings.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before you withdrew your consent.

7. Cookie retention period

Cookies may have different retention periods.

There are:

  • session cookies, which are generally removed when you close your browser;

  • persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a certain period.

The retention period varies by cookie and depends on the purpose and the service provider.

The specific retention period of cookies from, for example, Shopify and Google may be determined by the respective service provider.

8. Third-party cookies

Some cookies may be placed by external service providers that we use.

On our webshop, these include, among others:

  • Shopify – for the functioning of the webshop;

  • Google Analytics – for web analysis, when you have given consent.

If we add other external services in the future that use cookies or similar tracking technologies, we will update our Cookie Policy and our cookie settings where necessary.

9. Personal data and cookies

Under certain circumstances, cookies may collect information that can be directly or indirectly linked to an individual.

When the use of cookies leads to the processing of personal data, our Privacy Policy also applies.

In our Privacy Policy, we explain, among other things:

  • which personal data we process;

  • why we process it;

  • on what legal basis;

  • with whom data may be shared;

  • how long data is retained;

  • what rights you have.

10. Managing cookies via your browser

You can also manage cookies through your internet browser settings.

For example, you can delete existing cookies or block certain cookies there.

Please note that disabling necessary cookies may cause certain parts of our webshop to function incorrectly.

Managing cookies through your browser does not necessarily replace the consent procedure for non-essential cookies on our website.
